Stay cool with NTS
Together with the energy agency of the economy (EnaW) in search of further energy efficiency measures
If it's about making data center operations even more efficient and sustainable, there are no prohibitions on thinking at NTS. Already today, various measures such as the consistent use of waste heat have been implemented. Currently, other projects such as photovoltaic systems are being intensively examined.

Success for our apprentice at the ICT Professional Championships
Michael Teuscher is ranked on the third place in the category Web Design and Development
We congratulate our apprentice on his success at this year's ICTskills 2017, which took place in Zurich as part of the Informatiktage 2017.
In the four disciplines of application development, system engineering, mediamatics and web design, the 93 participants, who qualified in spring, competed against each other.

NTS invests in clean air
In order to reduce exhaust emissions, NTS installed the first fuel-water-emulsion system (FWE) in Switzerland with an existing emergency power generator
Although our emergency power generators have only a few operating hours per year and these are almost exclusively attributable to the regular test runs, we decided to voluntarily install a new exhaust system from Exomission to protect our environment. Conventional exhaust gas purification techniques, such as diesel particulate filters (DPF) or SCR catalysts (AdBlue), attempt to filter out or convert the pollutants generated in the engine subsequently in the exhaust gas. In order for this to work, these filter systems require adequate exhaust gas temperatures. However, due to the very short operating times, these required temperatures are not reached with the emergency power generators. SCR for nitric oxide reduction does not act, and DPF tend to block. An SCR catalytic converter can even have adverse effects if toxic ammonia is emitted during a malfunction.
Exomission's so-called fuel-water-emulsion technology (FWE) works completely different, because the emissions are not filtered out with the FWE, but the engine is already prevented from producing the pollutants at all. The system we use has a patented solution for mixing water with fuel into an emulsion. Various safety measures also ensure that a fault or a failure of the FWE system has no influence on the operation of the motor.
Initial measurements show that the nitrogen oxide emissions can be almost completely eliminated with the FWE, far below future limits as well as the soot emissions.
The manufacturer about the topic of FWE (fuel-water-emulsion):
Since 2012 the company Exomission Umwelttechnik from Germany offers the FWE technology, which was developed primarily for the inner-motor reduction of soot. The fuel-water-emulsion technology, or FWE for short, mixes liquid fuel with water via a patented macromolecular system. The homogeneous emulsion produced is fed to the engine for combustion. The results are convincing. In official tests by TÜV Nord in Germany, the soot content in the diesel exhaust gas could be reduced to zero. In parallel, all relevant pollutants were significantly reduced. During the official TÜV tests about 3% fuel and CO2 could be saved. An absolute novelty in exhaust gas reduction technology! The German Federal Environment and Transport Ministry was enthusiastic and immediately praised state funding. Up to 60% of the investment costs for the FWE are donated by the state for the provision of inland waterways in Germany. Since then, Exomission has been successfully equipping ships and stationary engines, among others also CHPs, which are operated with diesel, heating oil, waste oil, heavy oil or vegetable oil, with FWE. Exomission has already won several environmental and innovation awards for the development of climate-friendly, low-emission and cost-cutting technology. Further details on the technology can be found on the Exomission website at www.exomission.de.

Our apprentice participates in the ICT Swiss championship
Michael Teuscher has qualified for the ICTskills2017 at the regional championships
On March 18th, the regional championships were held in Berne. Michael Teuscher was able to compete with his competitors in his first attempt in the category Web Design / Development. With an excellent 2nd place, he qualified for the ICT Swiss Championship. These will be carried out during the computer science days on June 16/17th, 2017 in Zurich.
At this point, we would like to thank the team of Bbc Talents. They already prepared Michael for the regional championship during a training day and will continue to support our apprentice on his way to the Swiss championship.

NTS stands for net neutrality
NTS Workspace AG is participating in the alliance of the Swiss economy for an open Internet.
Net neutrality means that NTS is obliged to handle all Internet services the same way - neither we filter any content nor services are treated preferentially or prioritized.
Only through a neutral and thus equivalent treatment of all services an open Internet is possible, which in turn offers all providers fair opportunities and thus also allows new suppliers to offer innovative products and services.
The aim of the alliance is to define the net neutrality in the telecommunications law.
